Pilot
The pilot must stand at the controls, typically at the front of the topmost deck of the airship cabin.

Crew
In addition to the pilot, an airship requires a crew of five, all of whom use a standard action each round to help control the vessel. Reduce the ship’s speed by 4 for each missing crew member. At fly speed 0, the ship is unable to travel and flies out of control.\

Load
Thirty Medium creatures; twenty tons of cargo.

Out of Control
An out-of-control airship moves forward at half speed. Each round, it has a 50% chance of descending. It descends 5 squares for the first 10 rounds it is out of control. After 10 rounds, it descends 10 squares per round. An out-of-control airship that hits the ground after descending more than 20 squares is destroyed.

Decks
The airship’s cabin has four decks: an exterior observation platform, the topmost crew deck, a middle deck for passengers, and a lower cargo hold.

Fragile Propulsion
For every 50 damage the airship takes, its speed is reduced by 2 squares. At fl y speed 0, the ship is unable to travel and floats out of control.

Weapons
The airship has a single Arcane Battery.

Arcane Battery Fusilade

The cannon hums to life and churns with energy. You can feel your ears ringing as it sends a huge ball of flame at a target.

Bio:

The Julian Empire constructed a number of aircraft. The vast majority are gone; rotten at the bottom of the sea or on mountaintops or burned in battle. Collectors hold on to them dearly; the vast majority also have critical components damaged or missing. Those that do function belong to kings or warlords.

This example is for a common airship; primarily used for transportation or patrol along the Julian borders. Heavier versions exist, but the heaviest battleships were still sea-based.

The airship requires Petrocite to function. This rare substance was refined from Residuum. However, the airship can create its own supply (albeit slowly) as long as it is fed organic material (normally gathered by specialized constructs.)

Creating an airship is an incredibly difficult process and requires either the usage of either painstaking research in techniques (and presumably a working version to copy from ) or an entirely new paradigm to craft it. It generally takes 6 months and 85,000 gp to finish an airship from start to completion.
